HISTORY   :   PRESS ROOM

Our science education center is part of a network of 48 international non-profit learning centers that endeavor to carry on the educational mission of the Challenger 51-L crew and the first Teacher in Space, Christa McAuliffe.

Since opening in 1999, more than 170,000 students and adults have participated in unique programs that serve to inspire the continued exploration of the wonders around us - both here on our home planet and beyond. The center operates on individual and corporate gifts, grants, and program revenue. Contributions and volunteers of all ages are welcomed.

Our mission is to create an exciting learning environment that promotes the continued exploration of the Earth and space sciences through innovative programs that challenge how teachers educate, students learn, and businesses operate. We seek to foster in the community a long-term interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Our vision is to merge the power of a student’s imagination with the excitement of discovery.
